Comfort for Those Stressful Times: Lean on God

Peace I leave with you; not as the world gives do I give unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

–  John 14:27

One of the biggest misconceptions that people have is that if there is chaos going on in their lives, God is ignoring their pleas or punishing them; that is FAR from the truth.

God watches our every move and knows exactly what we are going to ask him for before we even utter the words. He knows your thoughts and everything that you could possibly need.

Just because you are going through a hard time, it doesn’t mean that God has gone blind to your needs. Despite what you may think, he wants to comfort you and be your first source of help, not the last resort.

It is very easy to go through life with the attitude of jumping from one task to another. When those stressful times arise, we automatically go into pilot mode. We want to take control and try to make everything right but God is calling us to lean on him. You cannot push the troubles away but you can run to the cross.

Jesus is just waiting for you to take the load off and trust that he has your back.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 should be your constant reminder that God will never give you anything that you cannot handle with his strength.

He said to me “My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

– 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

God will give you the grace and peace that you need to get through anything you may be facing right now. Whether it is financial problems, relationship struggles, family issues, or just a load that is too heavy to bear: give it to God.

I know from personal experience that when you choose the comfort of our Lord and Savior, you will never be let down.

He is our helper in time of need.
